The show will begin at 8 p.m., with a pre-show reception, croquet, and an opportunity to tour the Studio of Ben Solowey starting at 7 p.m.
In conjunction with the Studio of Ben Solowey's latest exhibition Portrait of the Artist As A Young Man: The Early Work of Ben Solowey, distinguished cabaret singer Karen Gross (featured at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Kimmel Center, and Lincoln Center in NYC) will highlight the music, culture, and revelry of the Roaring Twenties in an intimate art gallery-meets-cabaret setting. The program includes beloved, timeless favorites by the likes of Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, and Hoagy Carmichael, as well as sassy, lesser-known gems sung by trailblazing performers like Sophie Tucker, Josephine Baker, and Bessie Smith. Karen will weave in anecdotes about Ben Solowey's life and work, the surrounding artwork in the gallery space, and the musical legacy of the 1920s -- transporting guests back nearly 100 years. Let's Misbehave is directed by Kristine Zbornik, with musical direction/piano by Seth Weinstein.
Located on a beautiful farm property in Bucks County, PA, the Studio of Ben Solowey (http://solowey.com) is a one-of-a-kind arts destination dedicated to preserving the work and workplace of acclaimed artist Ben Solowey. According to Edward J. Sozanski, the art critic of The Philadelphia Inquirer, "When you visit the studio of Ben Solowey, you do more than see an exhibition, you enter an artist's world....The charm of [the Studio] is its sense of intimacy and immediacy."
Tickets for this special event are limited and reservations are a must. Ticket includes a complimentary glass of wine. Make a weekend of it by staying nearby at one of Bucks County's beautiful bed & breakfasts!
